Modification methods of modified polyethylene materials

2024-04-08

The methods of modifying polyethylene mainly include:
Blending modification: By blending with other resins, rubber, or thermoplastic elastomers, the toughness, impact resistance, printability, and other properties of polyethylene are improved.
Crosslinking modification: Using chemical or physical methods to transform polyethylene molecules from linear to network structure, improving their physical and mechanical strength and resistance to environmental stress cracking.
Filling modification: Using inorganic non-metallic powder materials such as calcium carbonate and talc powder for filling modification to improve the thermal stability and hardness of polyethylene.
Chemical cross-linking: The free radicals generated by the decomposition of peroxides or azo compounds form active centers with unsaturated points in PE molecules, forming a cross-linked three-dimensional network structure.
Radiation cross-linking: Polyethylene is placed in a radiation field and forms a cross-linked three-dimensional network structure under the action of high-energy rays.
